The Mean Girls Biggest Loser - Week 1

Here it is. The week we have all dreaded. The initial weigh-in.

Now, I know some of you have had some major trepidation about revealing your weight to us and to the internets, but I just want to reiterate that this is NOT an exercise in humiliation. This is motivation in its simplest form. The fact is that we all have unhealthy eating habits, and what better way than for us to encourage each other to reach our goals. While we may all reap the benefit of slimmer and trimmer bodies and one of us will be The Biggest Loser, the best thing that will happen is that we all be healthier and happier.

Plus, if you need more motivation, according to Rena Wing, PhD, who is a professor of psychiatry at Brown Medical School, people who regularly participate in a weight loss group can expect to lose an average of 10 percent of their body weight during the first six months in the group. How's that for a goal?

We're all in this together, and if you feel you need some support or advice, some of us have been working out and dieting for a while, and we'll be more than happy to share in our knowledge. So ask away, and I'll also be posting tips and stuff here on the blog. So, check back even if it is not a weigh-in day.

So without further ado (in alphabetical alias order):
  • Athena - 208
  • Blanche - 161
  • Brooklyn - 145
  • FitnessNerd - 220
  • Maestro - 231
  • Mom - 198
  • Romeo - 192
  • Xena - 147
Now, let us make a pact that we're only going to go down from here, and that we'll make an effort to never see these numbers again!
